Donald Lu, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, says the Biden administration is committed to its strategic partnerships in the region, aims to invest in the sovereignty and independence of the Central Asian states, while understanding policies that are rational for Central Asian interests. He also argues that the promotion of human rights and democracy remains high on the agenda.
